Aviko(Gansu) Potato Processing Co.,Ltd is a joint venture invested by Aviko B.V. and the Government of Minle County, Gansu, China, with Aviko B.V. holding majority of the shares. Situated on a 61 hectare site in the Ecological Industrial Park in Minle County, with a total investment of 200 Million U.S.Dollar , it is expected to be the largest potato processor in China and the leader in the industry.
In the first phase of the project, a processing line with an output capacity of 15,000 MT of potato flake will be built. Production is starting this March using the most advanced equipment imported from Hollan

Aviko B.V. is a subsidiary of Dutch Royal Cuson Group, which was established in 1962 and is currently one of the world's top 4 potato processors. Aviko has totally 12 plants in both Europe and Asia who processes approx. 1.5 million tonnes of potatoes each year with turnover of EUR 600 million. That's over 40,000 lorries with a combined length of 750km!
Aviko processes these potatoes into about 630,000 tonnes of fresh, frozen and dried potato products. Aviko has 22% share of European market and sells products to 75 countries and regions worldwide. The mission of Aviko is "Creating value from Potatoes" .

Management and technical expertise :
Aviko(Gansu ) utilizes strong management and top-level technicians from Holland headquarters.

Zhengye district, at a high latitude and altitude, has a cold, dry climate and a large temperature range between day and night. Long periods of sunshine, and fertile and unpolluted soil, contribute to produce constantly excellent quality, high-yielding potatoes, and minimize pest damage that affects potato quality and yield. The fact that the rainy season in Zhangye district occurs at the time as the peak water-demand season of potatoes is favorable to potato tuber expansion and quality-upgrading, making Zhangye an ideal potato planting region, where big, shapely potatoes with smooth skin and rich content of dry matter and starch grow .

To guarantee the implementation of this project, the Government of Minle County is devoting itself to setting up a raw material base for potato cultivation. Starting with 13,000 hectares in 2007, it aims to reach 27,000 hectares in 2009 and 40,000 hectares in 2011, forming a raw material supply area of which Minle County is the central base, surrounded by the 40,000-hectare neighboring area. As the result of this project, Minle County, Zhangye is expected to become the Potato Capital of China.
